Every day 72 men in Australia are diagnosed with prostate cancer.
In other words, every 20 minutes, one of our fathers’, sons or brothers will hear the news he has prostate cancer,
By 2040, it is predicted there will be 372,000 men living with prostate cancer in Australia.

The current Australian guidelines for PSA testing from the PCFA website

Men should be given the opportunity to discuss the benefits and harms of PSA testing before making the decision to be tested
Men at average risk of prostate cancer who decide to be tested should be offered PSA testing every 2 years from age 50 to 69
Men with a family history of prostate cancer who decide to be tested should be offered PSA testing every 2 years from age 40 or 45 to 69 (the starting age depends on the family history)

Note: The current guidelines show the potential harms of PSA testing may outweigh the benefits for men aged 70 and older.

Our Aim

Facilitate open discussions where men and their partners share experiences and assist each other in dealing with the impact of prostate disease on their lives.
Have health professionals speak on all aspects of prostate cancer and treatments.
Provide relevant information from various sources.
Encourage partners, family members and friends to also attend Support Group meetings.
